3 Women Were Shot In Long Beach. Days Later, One Died

Police said the Aug. 9 shooting was not random, but no suspect information or motive has been released.

LONG BEACH, CA — A 56-year-old Long Beach woman has died from injuries suffered in a shooting that wounded three women earlier this month, police announced Wednesday.

Claudine Williams died Aug. 14, five days after she and two other women were shot in the 100 block of East Pacific Coast Highway, according to the Long Beach Police Department. LBPD confirmed to Patch Wednesday that the shooting occurred in a parking lot.

Officers responded to the area at about 11:25 p.m. Aug. 9 following reports of a shooting and found three adult women suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

Officers provided medical aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived. One woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition, while the other two were hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The suspect or suspects fled before officers arrived, according to police.

Police said detectives do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence and authorities have not released information about a suspect or suspects. The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.

Williams later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital and was identified as a Long Beach resident, police said.
