Long Beach Unified School District is engaged in a redistricting process that may not only affect the June 2022 elections for the LBUSD Board of Education, but could also change the geographic areas each Board member represents. After each Census, LBUSD must review the population data for each of the five Board district areas, and engage in a process to balance the populations of those areas, if necessary. To balance Board district area populations, the LBUSD Board of Education has asked for the redrawing of boundaries. To this end, we have posted a draft of the three proposed redistricting scenarios, which can be accessed at www.lbschools.net/redistricting. In order to keep the community informed, this webpage will be updated regularly with presentations, frequently asked questions and other resources.

LBUSD is asking for your feedback on the three proposed maps via a brief survey. In addition, LBUSD is hosting two upcoming community meetings where you can learn more about the redistricting process and how it could affect your community. Meetings will be held on Nov. 8 and Nov. 15. Both meetings will begin at 6 p.m., and the Zoom invitation will be available at www.lbschools.net/redistricting a week before each meeting.

The LBUSD Board of Education is scheduled to approve a new Board district area map on Dec. 1, 2021.

We encourage residents to visit www.lbschools.net/redistricting to stay informed about meetings and to complete the redistricting survey.
