Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Teens In Long Beach Arrested

The Long Beach Police Department believes there may be additional victims and encouraged people to come forward.

LONG BEACH, CA — A man accused of attempting to kidnap and sexually assault teens in Long Beach was arrested on Thursday, the Long Beach Police Department announced Friday.

According to police, on June 5 a teenage girl was walking on the sidewalk in the area of Atlantic Avenue and Market Street when 40-year-old Nabil Shaheed came up from behind her. The girl told LBPD that Shaheed attacked her before she screamed and he ran away.

"The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was walking on the sidewalk when a male adult suspect, Shaheed, came up from behind her, sexually battered her, and tried to pick her up," LBPD said in a statement.

Though Shaheed was gone when officers arrived the scene, detectives said they gathered evidence that identified Shaheed as the suspect.

Shaheed was booked on one count of false imprisonment with intent to commit rape, one count of kidnapping and one count of kidnapping with intent to rape. His bail was set at $100,000.
