Man Dies In Electric Scooter Accident Near Downtown Long Beach
The scooter driver ran a red light, according to LBPD,
LONG BEACH, CA — A man died after being struck by a vehicle while riding an electric scooter near downtown Long Beach Tuesday morning, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
LBPD received a report of ta man injured due to a collision at 7:10 a.m. According to police, the man ran a red light while riding down 7th Street at the intersection of Chestnut Avenue, causing a collision between him and a 2018 Chrysler 300.
"Upon officers’ arrival, good Samaritans were already rendering aid to the driver of the electric scooter," a statement from LBPD said.

The electric scooter driver was transferred to a local hospital, and was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.
The driver of the Chrysler, a 59-year-old woman who lives in Long Beach, remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police said alcohol, drugs or distracted driving are not believed to be factors in the collision for the woman.
