LONG BEACH, CA — A man was shot to death in North Long Beach near Lakewood early Tuesday morning, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Authorities received a report of a shooting in the 3400 block of Andy Street at around 4:43 a.m. Tuesday morning. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from serious gunshot wounds in his upper body.

Long Beach Fire Department paramedics arrived and determined the victim dead at the scene.

Officers said the suspect fled before officers arrived and the individual's identity and motive is unknown.

The victim's identity was withheld pending notification of his next of kin from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner/Coroner.
