2. 32 Guns, 2,000 Rounds Seized From Long Beach Home (patch.com) — Long Beach police say they seized 32 guns, over 2,000 rounds of ammunition and body armor from a home on East 23rd Street, arresting a 34-year-old resident. Detectives allege he was illegally finishing and selling firearms from his Long Beach residence, and he now faces multiple weapons, child endangerment and animal-care related charges while being held without bail.
   

3. Latino Restaurant Week honors community, representation and great food (sigtrib.com) — Latino Restaurant Week is returning to Long Beach with a kickoff event on Oct. 1 at Onni East Village Courtyard and a full week of specials and storytelling from Oct. 5–11. Organizers and local owners of spots like Confidential Coffee, Birria Tepechi and new fusion restaurant Zarapé Cocina & Cantina say the celebration boosts visibility, marketing support and community connection for Latino-owned eateries. Residents can explore 18 participating restaurants and discover new flavors across the city.
   

4. Boy Hospitalized after Long Beach E-Bike Crash at Willow Street and Chestnut Avenue (pacificattorneygroup.com) — A boy riding an e-bike was hit by a car at Willow Street and Chestnut Avenue in Long Beach Thursday night and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Long Beach police say the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated, and impairment is not suspected. The crash highlights safety concerns for cyclists and e-bike riders at busy neighborhood intersections.
   

5. An elevated Japanese Classic Car Show returns to the Southland (patch.com) — Long Beach gearheads have a big day coming when the 21st Annual Japanese Classic Car Show rolls into Marina Green Park on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Organizers promise hundreds of vintage Japanese cars, special guest Hiroshi Tamura, and featured classics like the Datsun 521 and Honda Civic, with advance tickets available online and kids 12 and under admitted free.
