Police Seize Over 80 Fireworks From Car Doing Donuts

Just one day after the Fourth of July, Long Beach Police officers recovered more than 80 large fireworks while conducting a traffic stop.

LONG BEACH, CA — Just one day after American Independence Day, Long Beach Police officers recovered more than 80 large fireworks while conducting a traffic stop.

According to LBPD, officers patrolling in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Golden Avenue Wednesday night when they saw a car doing donuts and burnouts in the intersection.

"Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and the occupants attempted to flee on foot, but were successfully detained," LBPD said in a statement.

After the driver was arrested, officers discovered and seized 88 mortar-type fireworks from inside the vehicle.

The driver was cited for vandalism, reckless driving and possession of illegal fireworks, LBPD said.
