Shooting Suspect Barricades In Downtown Long Beach Home

The suspect was arrested and no injuries were reported, according to LBPD.

LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach authorities arrested a man on suspicion of shooting at an unoccupied car in the Downtown area Tuesday morning, police announced.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, dispatchers received a call at about 6:33 a.m. about gunshots in the 400 block of East Seventh Street. Witnesses told authorities the suspect fired a gun at another man's unoccupied car and retreated back into his home.

As the suspect barricaded inside his home, officers established a perimeter in the area and nearby residents were instructed to either shelter in place or evacuate, LBPD said.

Long Beach SWAT teams responded to the incident and attempted to negotiate and de-escalate the situation, police said.

No injuries were reported in relation to the alleged shooting, according to authorities.

Road closures were in effect nearby but were lifted after the suspect was taken into custody, according to LBPD.
