1 Killed In Fiery 101 Freeway Crash, Triggering Hours-Long Closure
A driver slammed into a lane-striping truck in the Toluca Lake area Thursday morning, and their car burst into flames.
STUDIO CITY, CA — One person was killed in a fiery crash that shut down the Ventura (101) Freeway in West Toluca Lake for hours Thursday morning.
The crash occurred at about 3 a.m. at Tujunga Avenue on the eastbound side of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol. A vehicle struck a construction freeway striper truck and burst into flames, CHP Officer Ramon Kendricks told City News Service.
The driver was trapped in the wreckage and died at the scene. Two workers inside the truck were also hospitalized with injuries, according to the CHP.

Information was not immediately available on the identity of the fatally injured person.
The crash closed the freeway in the area for more than three hours headed into the morning rush hour while the CHP conducted its investigation.
