📰 News we're reading

• Swarm of 90 micro-quakes rattles residents in Lennox, Westmont (latimes.com subscription) — A swarm of 90 tiny earthquakes has been gently shaking Lennox, Westmont, and nearby Los Angeles neighborhoods from Friday night into Saturday, unsettling many residents. USGS data show magnitudes up to 2.7 along the Newport-Inglewood Fault, which runs through several South Los Angeles communities, though experts note such micro-quakes don't necessarily signal a larger quake is coming.

• Officers shoot stabbing suspect at Hollywood Hills home, department says (abc7.com) — A police shooting in the Hollywood Hills Saturday night left a stabbing suspect wounded after Los Angeles officers confronted him at a home on Warbler Way. Both the suspect's and victim's conditions remain unclear, but no officers were hurt. Authorities are still investigating what led up to the confrontation, and more details are expected as the case develops.

• Traffic safety organization paints unpermitted crosswalk in Hollywood (nbclosangeles.com) — A Los Angeles traffic safety advocate and his group painted an unsanctioned crosswalk at Sycamore and Lexington in Hollywood, continuing their campaign to mark dangerous residential intersections. City officials responded by stressing that only regulation-compliant crosswalks will be installed, while highlighting new investments in pedestrian and bike safety downtown and in Chinatown. LAPD did not intervene during the latest painting effort.
