5 Hurt When Tesla Flies Off Freeway Into Homeless Encampment
Three people were trapped in the wreckage of the early morning crash.
PALMS, CA — A Tesla crashed over an embankment off the Santa Monica (10) Freeway in the Palms area Wednesday morning, landing on top of a homeless encampment and injuring five people.
The crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. near the National Boulevard offramp, trapping three people inside the wreckage, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
Crews worked to free the three people trapped inside the vehicle, and they were rushed to the hospital in, at least, serious condition. Two other people injured by the crash were hospitalized in fair condition, according to Stewart.

The ages and genders of the victims were not released, and the cause of the crash was under investigation.
