83 CA Ambulatory Surgery Centers Rank Among Best In U.S.: Report

CALIFORNIA — Dozens of California's Ambulatory surgical centers were recently ranked among the best facilities in the nation, according to a new report.

In California, 83 facilities were ranked among 470 medicare certified centers across the nation in a new list from Newsweek in partnership with Statista to help Americans "make knowledgeable choices when they seek care for themselves or loved ones," according to a news release.

These facilities typically specialize in orthopedic surgery, cardiac surgery, eye surgery, spinal surgery and more. Ambulatory centers also provide a space for quick turnaround procedures that ensure the patient is able to go home shortly after surgery or at most, within 24 hours.

Working with Statista, Newsweek analyzed performance data and surveyed experts, nurses, therapists, physicians, administrators and surgeons to recommend the best surgery centers in their state.

Across the nation, 4,600 centers were analyzed, according to Newsweek.

California had the largest amount of surgical centers that were highly ranked, while Mississippi had the least, with just four making the list.

Participants were also asked to rank facilities based on their response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

7. Surgical Care Affiliates - UCSD Center for Surgery of Encinitas

8. Surgical Care Affiliates - La Veta Surgical Center

9. Surgery Partners - Aspen Surgery Center

10. Desert Care Network - El Mirador Surgery Center
