Akash OP Aurora On 4 Ways To Build Confidence
Akash Aurora discusses how you can build confidence to help your personal and professional life.

Everyone isn’t born with confidence. For some, it takes years to grow it to the point where it’s at a level they are comfortable with. If you aren’t confident, you risk being ignored or quiet at a moment that you shouldn’t have been. To gain the confidence that you want, you have to push yourself. You have to be ready to put yourself in uncomfortable situations so that you can grow into the person you want to be.
Face Your Fears
Breaking free of your comfort zone is a great way to build up your self-confidence. When you face your fears on a daily basis, you slowly break free out of the shell that is constricting you. Do something that scares you every day such as greeting someone new on your commute or raising your voice at a team meeting. It will give you the voice that you didn’t know you had. Don’t let insecurity stop you from being who you are.
Let Yourself Fail
Your most prominent critic is yourself. When you allow yourself the freedom to mess up, it gives you the chance to realize that you don’t need to be perfect. The outlook that you need to be perfect is what stops you from trying anything new and ultimately lowers your self-confidence. Remember, no one is perfect when they first start a new hobby or activity.

Start to believe in yourself. Say yes the next time someone asks you to try something new. When you do that, you gain new experiences and use your voice. If a friend asks you to play rugby on their team, accept the invitation. Even though you know nothing about the sport, you gain insight about yourself and the people on your team. You obtain the ability to connect with your friend on a deeper level. Not only that, but you also create new connections.
Again no one is perfect when they first start a sport or hobby get ready to make mistakes and be prepared to laugh at them. Start a hobby with a friend; they will ease your anxiety and probably make mistakes of their own.

Don’t Compare Yourself With Anyone Else
With low self-confidence comes the idea to compare yourself with others. It’s the last thing that you want to do. Instead, of looking at your successes, you will look at everyone else’s and think that everything you have done has no meaning.
The truth is that you are not worse than your peers. You have to start believing that you are worthwhile and valuable to others around you. When you begin to accept that statement, you will begin to voice your opinion more and participate in group discussions.
Stand Your Ground
One significant way you can hinder your progress is by not taking a stance for what you believe in. If you suggest a project and are told no, when you stay silent you weaken yourself. You devalue your opinion. When you take a stance and say why you think your method is better, you allow yourself the ability to prove why. Being able to voice your opinion when someone doesn’t agree with you is difficult, but by doing this, you increase your ability to have open communication in tough situations.
Being confident means standing for what you believe in, it means voicing your opinions even if you are the only one doing so. People flock to those who are confident because they believe in what they say. Let yourself fail and face your fears every day so that you can gain the confidence that you want.
