LOS ANGELES, CA — A man is in custody after shots were fired outside the home of actor and R&B singer Chris Brown, according to multiple reports.
The incident, first reported by TMZ, unfolded around 4 p.m. Friday at the singer's house in the Tarzana neighborhood.
In a statement sent to USA Today, Los Angeles police confirmed the arrest of 35-year-old Markeith Cungious, who was charged with assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm.
LAPD said Cungious and a victim were involved in a dispute that escalated. Police told USA Today that Cungious fired a CO2-style handgun at the victim. The weapon is not considered a gun under California law.

TMZ reported that the victim was a woman and that her assailant fired at her vehicle during the incident.
After police arrived, Cungious reportedly told officers that he got into an argument with the victim when he asked her to leave. He also told police the woman drove her car over his foot before calling 911, per TMZ.
Cungious is currently being held at the Valley Jail with bail set at $50,000.
