Community mourns mother of 2 killed in violent DUI crash while making delivery in Koreatown (abc7.com) — A 33-year-old mother of two was killed in a high-speed crash while making a food delivery in Koreatown, Los Angeles, and the other driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, police said. Family and friends held a candlelight vigil at the crash site, remembering her recent culinary school graduation, new job offers, and the support she gave to those around her.
3. Chance Facebook post leads woman to adopt her late dog's littermate (nbclosangeles.com) — A Pasadena family has adopted Ginger, a 13-year-old border collie–German shepherd mix surrendered to Pasadena Humane, after recognizing her as the littermate of their late dog from a Facebook post. The emotional reunion, years after the dogs were first adopted out, has helped the family work through their grief while highlighting the role of local shelters and social media in connecting pets with new homes.
4. California Lawmakers File Wildfire Plan Axes Newsom Asks to Bar Insurers From Suing Utilities (claimsjournal.com) — State lawmakers are advancing a wildfire liability overhaul shaped by recent disasters, including the Eaton Fire and a separate blaze that devastated Los Angeles' Pacific Palisades. The bill rejects Gov. Newsom's push to block insurers from suing utilities, instead tightening rules on hedge funds and legal fees while leaving broader reforms for future debate that could still affect LA-area ratepayers and fire survivors.
