4 Killed In Plane Crashes | Storm Surge Evacuations | Menendez Brothers Parole Surprise: SoCal In-Brief

Took a break from the news this weekend? Worry not. We've rounded up some of the stories you missed in SoCal this weekend.

LOS ANGELES, CA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday, Sunday and Monday to prepare you for Tuesday.

But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should expect very hot, humid conditions to continue this week in the wake of Hurricane Marie.

Extreme heat and possible thunderstorms are expected to increase fire danger Tuesday. Much of the region is under an extreme heat warning through midweek, while coastal cities were under heat, flood, and dangerous surf advisories Tuesday.

Homes in Long Beach were evacuated over the weekend as pounding surf breached a seawall, causing flooding.

Inland areas such as Temecula are expected to see triple-digit highs by Wednesday, while desert communities such as Palm Desert are expected to see highs topping 110 degrees.

In other news, four people died in two plane crashes in Southern and Central California over the weekend; the murder-for-hire trial of a Grammy-winning rapper continues Tuesday; a major overnight freeway closure was announced; and the Menendez brothers were surprised with an early parole hearing date.

Lane Closures Begin Tuesday Evening On 405 Freeway
