2. 10 LA County Beaches Unsafe For Swimming Due To Bacteria Levels (patch.com) β With hot weather pushing many toward the coast, Los Angeles County health officials are warning swimmers to avoid the water at ten specific beaches, from Santa Monica and Venice to Redondo Beach and Rancho Palos Verdes, due to elevated bacteria levels. Most other LA County beaches remain open, and residents can check the 24-hour hotline or county website for up-to-date water quality information before heading out.

Man Admits To Throwing Molotov Cocktails At LA Federal Building (patch.com) β A Koreatown resident has admitted to throwing Molotov cocktails at entrances to the downtown Los Angeles Federal Building after allegedly setting fire to his own apartment following an eviction notice. Prosecutors say he targeted people waiting to enter the building, which houses immigration offices, and told officers he was angry over federal immigration policies. He now faces sentencing in January after pleading guilty to federal assault and explosives charges.
