Bar Rescue: Scoreboard Orders A Second Round

NORWALK, CA — The popular Norwalk bar Agave Junction Cantina, formerly Scoreboard, has ordered another round of “Bar Rescue,” a tall order considering the brutal beating the bar’s managers endured from host Jon Taffer last time around.

The episode, airing tonight, is a rare take on the popular reality show, in which the host revisits two bars whose fate he saved in prior episodes to see if they took his lessons to heart. Typically Paramount Network's, “Bar Rescue” helps failing bars turn things around, painstakingly identifying weaknesses and installing new business models and standards.

When last we saw the staff at Scoreboard, they were managing a struggling neighborhood sports bar plagued with poor customer reviews, expired drink mixes, bugs and less-than-clean kitchen conditions.

“Bugs in the bottles! Come on! Even if you get straight whiskey, you’re not safe in this bar,” Taffer announced to a horrified crowd last time around.

With Taffer’s help, they emptied their stock, cleaned their kitchens and revamped their theme. That was 2014. Four years later, they get mixed reviews on yelp.

“The beer was good but my brother's glass had a gnat. I ordered a side of fries. The fries were still raw,” complained one customer.

“Awesome tacos and I want to try the brunch on Sunday,” raved another customer. “I would recommend the El Chepe Margarita.”

Agave Junction Cantina has become famous for its tacos and stiff drinks, but they get a lot of knocks in yelp reviews for inconsistent service. Will “Bar Rescue” find them in need of rescue, once again? Or was once enough for the battered bar turned neighborhood hotspot?
