Norms To Offer 77-Cent Hotcakes For 1 Day Across SoCal (patch.com) — Los Angeles diners can snag a two-hotcake stack for just 77 cents as Norms marks its 77th anniversary across locations in LA, Orange and Riverside counties. The one-day deal runs Thursday, Sept. 24, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. for dine-in and online to-go orders, with a two-order-per-person limit.

Largest-Ever Animal Rescue Operation In LA County Leads To 35 Charges (patch.com) — Los Angeles County prosecutors have filed 35 felony and misdemeanor charges against an Antelope Valley woman after more than 300 animals were seized from a Lake Hughes property in what officials call the county's largest companion-animal rescue operation. The March raid strained LA County's already crowded shelter system, prompting emergency transfers of dogs from local shelters, including Downey, to free up space for the rescued animals.
   

3. 'Practical Magic 2' Review: Sandra Bullock And Nicole Kidman Reignite The Magic, But The Spell Frays (patch.com) — Los Angeles film fans get a long-awaited return to the Owens family as Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman reprise their witchy sister roles in Practical Magic 2. The review praises the cast and lovingly recreated Victorian mansion but finds the sequel's darker, more sprawling story less emotionally focused, with multiple plotlines diluting the original's intimate charm.

Man arrested for pepper-spraying moviegoer over cellphone use at Burbank theater, police say (nbclosangeles.com) — A Los Angeles man was arrested after police say he pepper-sprayed another moviegoer who was using a cellphone during a film at the AMC 16 theater in nearby Burbank. Two additional patrons reported irritation from the spray and were treated at a local hospital, while the suspect was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor battery.
