What happens when fate hands you the wheel of a story no one has written yet? Outside In Theatre invites audiences into a rain‑soaked, neon‑lit world of replicants, moral ambiguity and secrets that refuse to stay buried. Dark Metropolis is a completely improvised cyber‑noir created live in the moment by an ensemble of narrative improvisors. With no script and no safety net, each performance is a unique journey built on the improvisers’ choices and audience energy.
Dark Metropolis places its characters at the crossroads of fate and destiny and asks the only question that matters: what are you willing to do? Born out of Outside In Theatre’s Story Studio, a conservatory‑style class dedicated to studying genre and performing improvisation at the highest level, our ensemble takes the aesthetic of a classic cyber‑noir and builds a narrative you’ve never seen before. No two nights are the same; the result is equal parts thrill, mystery and humanity.
The ensemble cast includes Kevin Bohleber, Jill Marie Hoffman, Qalil Ismail, Emily Kugel, Elizabeth Lanier, Megan McIver, Kevin Ocampo, Justin Michael Terry, Mike Villanueva and Danielle Weeks, with Arlo Sanders orchestrating lighting and technical improvisation.
Performances take place at Outside In Theatre (5317 York Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90042) at 8 p.m. on June 4, 5, 7, 11, 12 and 14. Seating is general admission and tickets are $20. Parking is available in the surrounding neighborhood. For tickets and information, visit outsideintheatre.org or follow the company on Instagram @outsideinthtr.
