Vegan Street Fair Closes Out Its Night Market Season in Westwood With a New Beer Garden, Art Exhibit

Vegan Street Fair returns to Westwood Village on September 27 for its last night market of the year, closing out a summer season that saw the twelve year old event shift from an annual gathering to a monthly fixture on LA's Broxton Avenue. Entry is free. 

The September 27 fair runs from 3 to 9 p.m. at 1036 Broxton Ave and debuts a brand new 21 and up beer garden from Tap Truck Beach Cities, alongside a full art exhibit and a new singles board where attendees can connect with other single vegans and vegan curious guests in person. Vendors so far include El Compa Vegano, Cena Vegan, ID-ECLAIR, Mac and Yease, Maya's Cookies, Tortas Las Jarochitas, and Veggietize Me, with a swag bag put together in partnership with Vegan America featuring brands like Immi, KOS, Future Kind, and Rejuva Minerals. Music comes courtesy of Plant Based Amor and DJ Mike Sincere.

This is the first year Vegan Street Fair has run as a full program of VSF Connects Inc, the California nonprofit that also operates it. The shift from a once a year festival to a monthly one was made possible by that nonprofit structure, and organizers say September's edition is designed as a send off before the fair returns to daytime hours in October.

“This is our last night market of the year, and we wanted to close the season the way we opened it, bigger and more fun than the last one,” said Jessica Cruz, Executive Director of VSF Connects. “We built Vegan Street Fair to prove that vegan food and vegan community are for everyone, not just vegans.”

“Running this as a program of a nonprofit changes what we can actually build,” said Jeremy Kocian, Chief Marketing Officer of VSF Connects. “A beer garden, a full art exhibit, a singles board, none of that happens at a one time street fair. It happens when an event turns into a program with a mission behind it and a team that can plan a full season instead of one weekend.”

Since its founding in 2015, Vegan Street Fair has welcomed more than 250,000 attendees and worked with more than 2,000 vendors, and organizers estimate the fair has reached more than 40 million people through social media. VSF Connects reports that over 70% of Vegan Street Fair attendees are not vegan or plant based, a figure the organization points to as proof the event has grown past its original audience.
