LOS ANGELES, CA — As the weekend wraps up, we've rounded up all the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.

But before we jump into Southern California’s top stories, Golden State residents should know
that somewhat ironically, even though the state is in the midst of a seemingly never-ending megadrought, experts say it may also have to worry about a “mega flood.”

A new study by Science Advances warns that climate change has doubled the chances of a catastrophic flood occurring across wide swaths of the state some time within the next four decades. The floods could turn California’s lowland area into a “vast inland sea,” and become the most expensive natural catastrophe the already natural catastrophe-prone state has ever witnessed. Similar “thousand-year floods” already occurred this summer in St. Louis and Kentucky, and even Death Valley was flooded. Now experts say such events could happen every 25 to 50 years.
