LOS ANGELES — As the Palisades Fire tore Wednesday through Los Angeles, some of the area's most famous residents lost their homes while the fire and several other blazes burned.
Mandy Moore, Cary Elwes and Paris Hilton are among the stars who said Wednesday they had lost homes, as did Billy Crystal and his wife, Janice.
"We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can't be taken away," the Crystals wrote in a statement.

Mandy Moore lost her home in the Altadena neighborhood roughly 30 miles east of the Palisades.
“Honestly, I’m in shock and feeling numb for all so many have lost, including my family. My children’s school is gone. Our favorite restaurants, leveled. So many friends and loved ones have lost everything too,” Moore wrote on Instagram in a post that included video of devastated streets in the foothill suburb.

Hilton posted a news video clip on Instagram and said it included footage of her destroyed home in Malibu.
“This home was where we built so many precious memories. It’s where Phoenix took his first steps and where we dreamed of building a lifetime of memories with London,” she said, referencing her young children."
Elwes, the star of “The Princess Bride” and numerous other films, wrote on Instagram Wednesday that his family was safe but their home had burned in the coastal Palisades fire.

Leighton Meester and Adam Brody’s home burned down, according to Page Six, while TMZ reported Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag’s home had burned to the ground.
James Woods posted on X that the loss of his newly renovated home "feels like losing a loved one."
"One day you're swimming in the pool and the next day it's all gone," he said in an interview with CNN, his voice breaking with emotion.
The actor recounted to CNN his efforts to ensure an elderly neighbor with dementia was brought to safety. The neighbor's home burned down shortly after the resident got out, according to Woods.
"We were evacuated with the clothes on our back," Woods told CNN.
“General Hospital’s” Cameron Mathison shared a video on Instagram of the remnants of his home.
Other celebrities who lost homes in the fires include Ricki Lake, Diane Warren, Anna Faris, Jennifer Grey, Melissa Rivers and Carolyn Murphy, People reported.
More than 1,000 structures, mostly homes, have been destroyed by several major blazes in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, and over 130,000 people are under evacuation orders, from the Pacific Coast inland to Pasadena, a number that continues to shift as new fires erupt.
"My daughter and I lived there for most of her childhood and most of her childhood is gone," Kate Beckinsale wrote of the Palisades in an Instagram post. "Her primary school, every shop or restaurant we used to go to with my parents and Michael’s parents — and devastatingly, most of her friends homes. My heart is broken."

The actor announced the pledge on Instagram Thursday. The previous night, she tearfully appeared on “The Tonight Show.”

The Oscar winner wrote that she had been in touch with state and city leaders about how the money might be distributed “for the most impact.”
