People-first culture earns dual recognition for HNTB in Los Angeles

HNTB named a 2026 Best Place to Work and Yoga Chandran recognized among Los Angeles Business Journal's Indispensables

HNTB has been named one of the 2026 Best Places to Work by the Los Angeles Business Journal, marking the third consecutive year the firm has received the distinction. In addition, HNTB Los Angeles office leader Yoga Chandran was named to LABJ's inaugural 2026 Indispensables list, which recognizes leaders who make a meaningful impact within their organizations.

Together, these recognitions highlight HNTB's longstanding commitment to fostering an environment where employees are empowered to grow their careers, support one another and help clients deliver infrastructure that benefits communities throughout Southern California.

“I'm honored to be included among this year's Indispensables and grateful for the mentors, colleagues and team members who have shaped my career,” said Yoga Chandran, PhD, PE, GE, HNTB Los Angeles office leader and senior vice president. “I'm equally proud to see our Los Angeles office recognized as a Best Place to Work. That honor belongs to our entire team and the culture they've built together through collaboration, support and a shared commitment to serving our clients and community.”

The 20th annual Best Place to Work rankings are based on a detailed, confidential survey of top Los Angeles companies, with questions covering leadership, corporate culture, communications, training and development, and more. The results come directly from employees, who rate their company's performance across a range of areas that directly affect their professional lives. Corporate practices, policies, philosophy and demographics are also factored in the rankings.

“This Best Places to Work honor belongs to our entire Los Angeles team, their talent, their commitment and the culture they build together every day,” said Jeff Watson, PE, HNTB West Division president. “Their talent, collaboration and commitment to one another have created an environment where people can grow, succeed and make a positive impact for our clients and communities. Yoga's recognition as an Indispensable reflects the type of servant leadership that helps foster that culture, and we're grateful for his continued contributions to our people and our office.”

In California, HNTB has been serving clients for more than a century. The firm’s first design project was the Colorado Street Bridge in Pasadena, which was dedicated in 1913.

More recently, signature infrastructure projects include the iconic Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement Project; the Crenshaw Light Rail Project; the I-405 Sepulveda Pass Widening Design-Build Project; the Los Angeles World Airports Airfield Improvement Program; the Eastside Transit Corridor Phase 2 and Sepulveda Transit Corridor projects for LA Metro; and California High Speed Rail's Construction Package 4 and Locally Generated Alternative preliminary design, among many others.
