Is the Dodgers' $70 Shohei Ohtani souvenir cup actually a bargain?

Some observers say that may be the case.

On Opening Day last week, the cup — designed to look like Ohtani's No. 17 home jersey — was priced at $74.99. It was advertised as including free soda refills on the day of purchase, the Athletic reported.

By that weekend, the cup was reportedly sold out and eBay listings for the collectible popped up — two sold for $250 each and a third sold for $290, according to the publication.

And around that time, the Dodgers sweetened the deal: The price dropped to $68.99, Sports Illustrated reported.According to the Dodger Stadium food Instagram account, free refills apply throughout the entire 2026 season.

Here's some baseball stadium math — A regular souvenir cup with soda costs $12, meaning the Ohtani cup could pay for itself after about six refills, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The cup is sold at several locations around the stadium, including field level sections 9, 22 and 23 and the right field pavilion, according to Sports Illustrated.

Ohtani collectibles have surged more broadly, with cards, jerseys and signed books fetching top dollar.

Forbes recently named Ohtani the highest -paid MLB player this season. He's set to collect an estimated $127 million in 2026 before taxes and agents’ fees, a record for a baseball player.

Ohtani is one of two on the team that made the list.
