Driver Killed When Metrolink Train Crashes Into Car

One person was killed and several others were injured when a Metrolink train slammed into a car Wednesday morning.

GLENDALE, CA — One person was killed and several others were injured when a Metrolink train slammed into a car in Glendale Wednesday morning.

The train was traveling from the Antelope Valley to downtown Los Angeles, between the downtown Burbank and Glendale stations, at the time of the collision.

The motorist was driving northbound on West San Fernando Road and attempted to make a right turn onto Broadway, crossing the railroad tracks. The train struck the car as it entered the crossing, Glendale police said in a release.

KTLA aired aerial footage from the scene, showing a severely damaged sedan with its airbags deployed next to the tracks.

The driver of the car, identified only as a a woman, was pronounced dead at teh scene.

About 150 people were onboard the train. Three were injured, according to a Metrolink spokesperson.

One of those injured passengers, along with a bystander, was transported to a local hospital.

The bystander was walking nearby when he was struck by debris, KTLA reported.

Trains 207 and 208 on the Antelope Valley Line were canceled, as were trains 320 and 341 on the San Bernardino Line.

Metro buses were being used to shuttle passengers between the Burbank Downtown and Glendale stations.
