3. 9 LA County Beaches Unsafe For Swimming Due To Bacteria Levels (patch.com) — Los Angeles County health officials are warning swimmers to stay out of the water at nine specific beaches, including spots in Santa Monica, Redondo Beach, Torrance, San Pedro and Malibu, because of elevated bacteria levels. Several earlier advisories, including at Avalon on Catalina Island, have been lifted after new tests, and residents can check a 24-hour hotline or the county website for the latest beach conditions.

4. 4 Killed In Angeles National Forest Crash: CHP (patch.com) — A deadly overnight crash in the Angeles National Forest killed four Wrightwood residents and critically injured two others when their car overturned off State Route 2 and hit a power pole. Investigators say no one appeared to be wearing seat belts and alcohol is suspected, with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner and CHP's Los Angeles Communications Center now involved in the ongoing investigation.
