🦃 Thanksgiving Poll!
Thanksgiving is on November 24th. How do you celebrate? So far, 45.1% celebrate a big meal as a family tradition, while 29.4% don’t celebrate and treat it like any other day. In a smaller group, 2% don’t celebrate because they feel it glorifies the conquest of Native Americans; however, 23.5% choose to celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving out of gratitude.

📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:

1) Election updates: The counting of votes continues. As of right now, we know that County Measures A and C are passing. The same goes for City Measures LH and ULA; however, Measure SP appears to be defeated. Hydee Feldstein Soto is ahead for City Attorney, Kenneth Mejia for Controller, Rick Caruso for Mayor, Katy Young Yaroslavsky for Council District 5, Traci Park for District 11, Hugo Soto-Martinez for District 13, and Tim McOsker in District 15. (LA Vote)

2) On Friday, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) battled a blaze in a commercial Boyle Heights building. About 120 firefighters labored for 90 minutes to get the flames under control. The building was a one-story location that “housed a vast supply of smoking materials, including a huge volume of tobacco and butane canisters.” (Los Angeles Fire Department)

3) Two landscapers were struck and killed by a car on Wednesday morning in the 2500 block of South Robertson Boulevard. The two were brothers in their 70s. "They weren't married, they had no kids, they lived together, and they took care of each other," a relative said. The vehicle that struck them was a “white sedan with significant damage to its front end and the front-seat airbags deployed.” There is no information yet about the driver. (ABC)

4) Would you ride your bike to work if someone paid you? This question spawned Civic Bicycle Commuting, “an experimental program that pays people to ride between Downtown and parts of the Eastside.” You won’t get rich, but you might get up to $300 a month and have the option of riding in groups. There are specific rules to follow if you want to participate. For example, you need to “learn to ride in configuration and along specific routes.” (The Eastsider LA)

5) Did the flash flood warning we got on our phones on Tuesday scare you? The message went out to every resident of Los Angeles County, but was only intended for those residing in Duarte’s Fish Fire burn area. Officials apologized and said, "there was some problem with our hardware system." (LAist)
