Flying Tesla Hit-And-Run Suspect Taunts LAPD

ECHO PARK, CA — A man claiming to be the brazen hit-and-run suspect who flew a rented Tesla 50-feet into the air before slamming into parked vehicles on an infamous Echo Park Street, took to Tik Tok to taunt the Los Angeles Police Department Monday.

The man posted his alleged misdeeds to Tik Tok, racking up nearly a million views, and the LAPD's Central Traffic Division happily helped share the post in a bid to catch him.

Tik Tok user DurteDom claimed to be the Tesla driver behind Sunday's stunt and posted a video that appeared to show him eating edible marijuana gummies before the crash then later dancing with the Tesla key fob, taunting, "LAPD didn't like my stunt."

"DurteDom gloats on TikTok after LAPD offers $1,000 reward for information on driver of Tesla Model S stunt jump in Echo Park," the Los Angeles Police Department Central Traffic Division Tweeted Monday.

LAPD officials said they reached out to 'DurteDom' on social media. By 9 p.m. Sunday, the LAPD Central Traffic Division tweeted: "We are asking the public to no longer send us any more tips regarding @dominykasor We have reached out to him on his social media account. We are asking any witnesses to also come forward."

The stunt happened about 12:10 a.m. Sunday near Baxter and Alvarado streets, the LAPD reported.

Cellphone cameras caught the action, which was posted on YouTube and other social media platforms. It showed the rented Tesla airborne through the steep intersection at a high rate of speed then landing nose-first and crashing into two parked cars.

The airbags deployed, the Tesla was then abandoned, and the driver fled the scene.

Viewers of the video of the stunt offered their suggestions for catching the driver.

J Cuadra tweeted a suggestion to investigators. "Pull the footage from the tesla duh." Sonny Burnett commented, "Some guys are just begging to be made an example."

There was no immediate description of the driver who could face misdemeanor hit-and-run charges, police said.

Anyone with information on the driver was asked to call the LAPD at 213-833-3713 or 877-527-3247. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222- 8477.

Baxter Street in Echo Park has long lured would-be stunt drivers thanks to its steep slope. It has a 33 percent grade, and the city installed a number of safety measures in recent years to curb the number of accidents on Baxter Street.
