Not only are the LA Galaxy and Herbalife Nutrition working together on the field, they also have an excellent off-field partnership. Last December, five Galaxy players spent a week touring Asia with Herbalife Nutrition to participate in community and outreach activities to inspire them to live healthier lives. On this most recent trip, the Galaxy players helped “spread the message of the power of positive nutrition in enabling healthier, happier lives in Indonesia and Japan,” according to Stephen Conchie, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Herbalife Nutrition’s Asia Pacific region.
The LA Galaxy soccer players – Emmanuel Boateng, Daniel Steres, Dave Romney, Baggio Husidic, and Jonathan dos Santos – visited Indonesia and Japan with Herbalife Nutrition to advance sports nutrition and education in the two countries. The LA Galaxy team members made stops in Jakarta and Bali, in Indonesia, as well as Tokyo and Yokohama, in Japan. The players collaborated with Herbalife Nutrition’s Head of Sports Performance and Education, Dr. Dana Ryan, to conduct sports nutrition and fitness training sessions.

They met with professional football players from several of Indonesia’s top football teams to improve sports nutrition and coaching. Namely, the players met with Indonesia’s National Under 16 Football Team (U-16), Under 23 Football Team (U-23), as well as the most successful soccer club in Indonesia, Persija. The LA Galaxy players also met with local college students engaged in the study of sport science at the State University of Jakarta.
In addition to sponsoring coaching and nutrition clinics, the Herbalife Nutrition and LA Galaxy partnership also made a stop at the Herbalife Nutrition Foundation’s Casa Herbalife Programs in Indonesia and Japan. The LA Galaxy teammates enjoyed casual games of futsal with disadvantaged children and donated $29,000 to Casa Herbalife, a branch of the company’s philanthropic Herbalife Nutrition Foundation, which oversees community work, such as the LA Galaxy players’ visit, in places all over the world. The generous donation will go to feeding these children, as well as nutrition education programs and other local programs seeking to improve nutrition for children growing up amidst adversity.
Herbalife Nutrition was the Official Sponsor for 2018 YMCA Stair Climb for Los Angeles
The trip to Asia is not the first philanthropic effort undertaken by the LA-based Herbalife Nutrition. The nutrition and sport performance company is well-known locally for its commitment to outreach and community programs to promote an active, healthy lifestyle. For the past six years, Herbalife Nutrition has sponsored the YMCA Stair Climb, a 1,600 steps ascension to the top of the US Bank Tower located in downtown LA.
In September 2018, the stair climb celebrated its 25th year, and its sixth consecutive year of Herbalife Nutrition sponsorship. Herbalife Nutrition employees participated in this year’s stair climb, and the company also donated over 10,000 products, such as energy bars, drinks, and bottled water.

The stair climb’s goal is to raise money for the local LA YMCA to support its programs and mission to fight obesity and help youth, families, and seniors from disadvantaged neighborhoods be better able to utilize local YMCA programs and services.
