Hundreds Lose Power Across Southland Amid Hazardous Winds
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power was responding to a number of outages across Los Angeles Sunday due to the high wind event.
LOS ANGELES, CA — After intense winds whipped through Southern California Sunday, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power was reportedly dealing with possibly widespread power outages. Hundreds of customers lost power due to the windstorm, which sent trees and power lines flying around the Southland Sunday.
The high winds posed more than a few challenges for first responders and utility officials.
A downed power line reportedly blocked the intersection of Hazard Avenue and Goldenwest Street temporarily in Westminster, local police said.

And the Los Angeles Fire Department was responding to issues after downed power lines temporarily blocked the intersection of La Cienega and Fairview boulevards in Ladera Heights, officials said. Utility officials were also notified.
In Orange County the tracks between the Fullerton and Anaheim stations were closed due to downed power lines.

A downed Eucalyptus tree also temporarily blocked the intersection of Red Hill Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard in Irvine, Irvine police reported on Sunday evening.
