Indie music: the rise to success of Non Duo

Indie music band lands viral video.

Los Angeles nightclubs are often filled with new and regular indie bands doing sound check for jam sessions filling the air with the sound of pure music with live instruments. Indie music sets trends in musical expression as seen in the latest hip music releases. The popularity of indie music has evolved from niche based fans to a major global audience thanks to the power of social media, network connections and the worldwide web.

In the new millennium, indie artists have arrived to a place of artistic prominence. Through digital releases on soundcloud.com, Pandora and other music sharing platforms, indie bands have gained the respect of fans and the industry as seen in the Billboard charting action of unsigned artists on the rise.

One Los Angeles indie band has caught the attention of the world with a spotlight on a viral video they posted on YouTube. Non Duo is the indie music group and the players are Paul McCarty & Marina Gutman.

McCarty and Gutman found themselves exploring the idea of recording a hit Russian song popular with the Russian market. Their solid musical chemistry led them to record an English version of the track. The result is a refreshing and artistic version of Yuri Loza’s hit international track, “The Raft.” At the time of the recording, they were part of the indie group called Wicked Saints. McCarty and Gutman now perform as Non Duo with in the L.A. area.

After they were faced with the sudden success of a viral video, they found themselves being sought after for interviews by media outlets in Russia. McCarty and Gutman are taking it all in they continue to perform and write and express themselves in song. They are humble and grateful to fans for the record’s rise to the occasion. Their synergy, musical sound and new global fan base reflect their organic momentum as a new solid band on the rise.
