James Beard Foundation’s 'Taste America' Coming To L.A.
Gourmand alert! Tickets are on sale for a cocktail party and a gala dinner, starring top chefs and mixologists of Greater Los Angeles area.
LOS ANGELES, CA — The James Beard Foundation’s Taste America series will be in Los Angeles April 1-2, with tickets on sale for two signature events at The Fields LA — a "Raising The Bar" cocktail party, focused on sustainability, and a benefit dinner with a specially curated menu, served in the rooftop lounge.
For more than 30 years, the James Beard nonprofit has devoted itself to building a coast-to-coast platform to support chefs and to promote the cultural unity of food, sustainability and waste reduction in the industry with its Good Food for Good™ program.
In keeping with that mission, the Raising the Bar cocktail party, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 1 at Freeplay at The Fields LA, will focus on sustainability.

Tickets are $90 to $150 to the event, which will feature bites and cocktails served up by such top, local mixologists and chefs as Juan Rendon of Gwen, Brittany Cassidy of Birdie G’s, Nyesha Arrington of Native, Giovanni Lopez of Bordergrill, Otium bar's Chris Amirault, Republique bar's Shawn Lickliter and Spare Room's Yael Vengroff.
Attendees can enjoy one-on-ones with the experts, and also learn tips on building a sustainable food world, starting in their own homes.

The Taste America dinner gala, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2, will feature a diverse menu crafted by James Beard Award nominees Anita Lo and Jeremy Fox, along with a lineup of local culinary talent including Jonathan Yao of Kato, Eric Bost of Auburn and Javier Lopez of 71 Above. A walkaround dessert reception will feature creations by Nicole Rucker of Fat and Flour, Dyan Ng of Auburn and Lincoln Carson of Bon Temps. Wayne Elias of Crumble Catering is the culinary liaison of the event.
The dinner will be emceed by event-industry veteran Billy Harris. Tickets starts at $255 apiece.
As part of its partnership with Food Recovery Network, Taste America's surplus food will be donated to hunger-fighting nonprofits.
