The talented new artist’s music is all about positivity: the lyrics mostly talk about being self-reliant, uplifting our spirits, and love. “Passageways” in particular is about the intense curiosity you get when falling in love with someone. The singer-songwriter was raised Mormon in the Bay Area! She left the church at the age of 22 and moved to Big Island Hawaii! Before pursuing her music career, she studied cultural anthropology at Humboldt State University! In terms of her music career, Kailee says that “I wasn’t really trying to be a musician for a while, and went through some wild depression and didn’t pick up the guitar for long stretches of time. But recently in the past year I started playing a little bit and was surprised to find that people loved it. People kept asking me to play, and then I kept getting asked where they could download my music. This led to me searching for a place to record and that’s when I found Kukuau studio.”
