LA Phil Cancels Fall Season, Offers Virtual Concerts
The Los Angeles Philharmonic is canceling its fall concert series at Walt Disney Concert Hall due to health concerns regarding COVID-19.

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Los Angeles Philharmonic is canceling its fall concert series at Walt Disney Concert Hall due to health concerns regarding the coronavirus.
The orchestra announced the cancelation on Thursday, calling the decision "heartbreaking."
"Sharing in the communal experiences of live music is at the heart of what we do, and we know it is a vital part of your life too," the orchestra said in the announcement.

All 2020/21 subscription packages have been moved into the 2021/22 season, which will enable subscribers to keep their seats when the orchestra returns for the new season in 2021.
LA Philharmonic was forced to cancel its summer season at the Hollywood Bowl due to the coronavirus and restrictions in place due to California's phased reopening plan.

Despite the cancelations, the LA Philharmonic is using the support of donors to launch several new media initiatives, including Concert at the Hollywood Bowl, a six-episode series hosted by Gustavo Dudamel beginning on Aug. 19. The show will air on KCET at 9 .m. on Wednesdays, PBS SoCal at 8 p.m. on Fridays, and on nationwide PBS stations in 2021.
Other media initiatives include LA Phil x KCRW: World Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, which is a series of radio broadcasts highlighting 20 years of KCRW World Festival concerts. In addition, Play Your Part: A Benefit for YOLA hosted by Gustavo Dudamel and Thomas Wilkins, featuring Brandi Carlile, will stream on demand from Aug. 7-14 on the Hollywood Bowl website.
