LA28 Is Looking For 60K Olympics Volunteers: How To Apply

LOS ANGELES, CA — People hoping to play a part in the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games won't have to wait much longer.
LA28 announced on Monday that applications for volunteer positions will open July 14, exactly two years before the Opening Ceremony of the 2028 Olympic Games.
Organizers are seeking about 60,000 volunteers to help support events across Southern California and several other U.S. cities.

The volunteer opportunities will range from greeting spectators and assisting athletes to specialized positions requiring skills such as language translation or medical experience.
Most volunteer assignments will be based in the greater Los Angeles area, though opportunities will also be available in San Diego, San José, Oklahoma City, New York, Columbus, Nashville and St. Louis.

Applicants will be asked to indicate their preferred location and any special skills that may qualify them for specialized roles.
Olympic volunteers will serve between March and August 2028, while Paralympic volunteers will serve between August and September 2028. Volunteers must commit to at least 10 shifts during one of those periods, according to organizers.
People interested in volunteering can sign up for updates through LA28's volunteer portal ahead of the July 14 application launch. Those who have already expressed interest in the program will receive additional information about completing the application process.
"Volunteers are the backbone of the games," LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover said in a statement. "Their passion and energy will help define LA28 for athletes, fans and communities across the region."
