LAPD Officers Shoot Man Involved In Family Dispute

Officers responding to reports of gunfire and a family dispute, shot and killed a man Thursday afternoon.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A family dispute suspect was killed Thursday afternoon in an officer-involved shooting in the Harbor Gateway area, police reported.

Officers were en route to a reported family dispute at a residence near 123rd Street and Menlo Avenue about 12:45 p.m. when they got another report of gunfire and the call was upgraded to a "shooting in progress," according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

When officers got on scene, a man came out of the residence with a handgun, leading them to fire on him, according to police. He died at the scene.

No officers were injured during the shooting, and a handgun was recovered at the scene.

The man's name was not immediately released.
