LOS ANGELES, CA — Vice President Kamala Harris was scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles Friday afternoon following a series of public appearances in the Bay Area.

As of Friday afternoon, there were no official public events listed for the Vice President during her visit Friday. A resident of Brentwood, the vice president has occasionally spent weekends at her home amid West Coast stops. Such visits typically mean traffic disruptions for the Westside as the vice presidential motorcade travels through the area.

In past visits, the San Diego (405) and Santa Monica (10) freeways have been shut down to accommodate the motorcade. Residents are advised to expect delays Friday afternoon.

Harris was scheduled to depart Oakland International Airport at 2:40 p.m. aboard Air Force 2, landing at Los Angeles International Airport a short time later.

Harris made local headlines last week when she and President Joe Biden waded into the Los Angeles mayoral race to endorse Rep. Karen Bass.

"We are endorsing Karen Bass for Los Angeles mayor because we are eager to continue to partner with her on innovative strategies to reduce homelessness and increase public safety and prosperity," Biden and Harris said in a joint statement released by the Bass campaign.

"Karen Bass has our friendship, and she has earned our respect through her leadership in Congress on crime prevention strategies, effective and fair policing, and the welfare of children and families."

Harris was in the Bay Area since Thursday. She held a discussion with legislators on reproductive care; announced the launch of "The Generation Fund," a program aimed at providing financial support for public school students and babies born into poverty; and made remarks at the Chabot Space & Science Center on new regulations for the commercial space industry.
