Murder Suspect In SWAT Team Standoff Arrested

A murder suspect led police in Los Angeles on a chase before barricading himself inside a building, according to the LAPD.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A dramatic manhunt and standoff with a murder suspect ended with his arrest in south Los Angeles near Gardena Tuesday afternoon

The chase began at about 10 a.m. Shortly after, the suspect ditched his vehicle and fled on foot in the area of 164th Street and Vermont Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Authorities set up a perimeter in the area, shutting off traffic to the area. According to police, the suspect barricaded himself in a building, and the SWAT team was called in.

Information was not immediately available on the suspect's name

"He was a wanted suspect in connection with a murder," said Officer Tony Im, adding that investigators were still gathering details on the crime.

Police reported early Tuesday afternoon that the suspect was in custody.
