LOS ANGELES, CA — The Venice boardwalk is a lot of things, but boring is not one of them. This week, some are wondering if locals may be a little too desensitized to spectacle after a naked woman engaged in a swinging bat battle with another woman, and no one called the police.

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the incident Thursday after video of the broad-daylight battle circulated online, LAPD Officer Rosario Cervantes told Patch.

"We are aware of a video circulating, which appears to show two women swinging sticks at each other at the Venice boardwalk," Cervantes said. "An investigation is underway."

The incident happened on the boardwalk between Muscle Beach and the Santa Monica Pier.

The footage shows a naked woman swinging what appears to be a spiked club at another woman armed with what appears to be a bat. The pair duels across the boardwalk on a sunny day while onlookers gape. At the time, the boardwalk was crowded with hundreds of onlookers.

In the video, bystanders can be heard cheering on the combatants. The naked woman prevailed when her opponent dropped her bat and fled. The naked woman picked up the weapon and strutted down the boardwalk with both clubs in the air.

Phil Bouruqe, who works in the area, shared video of the incident with NBC Los Angeles.

“Like, they were fighting and then people were gathering around watching," he told NBC. "I mean, entertaining, that’s all I can say.”

The area is known for its mix of tourists and homeless encampments. It's not unusual for police to respond to reports of public drug use and mental health crises among the unhouse population in the area. Both women are known to frequent the boardwalk area.

There have been no arrests associated with the incident as of Thursday afternoon, according to the LAPD. Anyone with information about the fight or the women involved is urged to call the LAPD's Pacific Division at 310-482-6334.
