LOS ANGELES, CA — Up on the second floor of the Westfield Century City now sits a LEGO paradise, complete with elaborate LEGO displays and customizable minifigures.

The new Los Angeles location celebrated its soft opening Friday, becoming Southern California's eighth LEGO storefront — and the second to house a customizable LEGO machine.

Dozens of LEGO fans lined up outside the new store Friday to peruse its merchandise, including specialty sets after movies like "Avatar" and "Harry Potter" and a build-your-own LEGO character station.

Construction on the new site took around three to four months, and preparations for Friday's soft opening went smoothly, according to Store Manager Robert Monteon Ramirez. Employees will fill out the store's merchandise and work out kinks leading up to its grand opening weekend from Feb. 3-5.

Attendees at the grand opening will enjoy a DJ, LEGO building and a demonstration from LEGO's "master builder," who will work on an 8-foot tall LEGO "Star Wars" construction. The first 750 customers in the store at the grand opening will receive an exclusive Century City LEGO tile.
