1. 2 Children Killed In Suspected Murder-Suicide Attempt, Gunman Injured: LA Police (patch.com) — Residents in Los Angeles' Pico-Union neighborhood are reeling after a 4-year-old boy and 10-year-old girl were fatally shot and a man was critically injured in what police describe as an apparent attempted murder-suicide. Officers responded Sunday afternoon to South Catalina Street near Venice Boulevard, where the children were rushed to local hospitals and later pronounced dead, while the wounded man remains hospitalized in custody.

City of Los Angeles to turn on speed cameras across 125 high-risk corridors (thepridela.com) — Drivers across Los Angeles will start seeing automated speed cameras switch on October 26 along 125 high-risk corridors, with fines funding local street safety upgrades. The city will issue only written warnings for the first 60 days, then begin civil citations for speeds 11 mph or more over the limit, focusing especially on school zones and other vulnerable areas.

3. Win Premier VIP Badges to Los Angeles Comic Con (audacy.com) — You can enter this week for a chance to win two Premiere VIP badges to Los Angeles Comic Con at the Los Angeles Convention Center, running October 30–November 1. Entries are accepted online through October 18, with one winner selected around October 19, and standard COVID-related venue and event rules still apply for prize use.

4. Port of Los Angeles sets all-time monthly cargo record (shippingherald.com) — The Port of Los Angeles just recorded its busiest month ever, moving more than 1 million containers in September and capping a record-breaking quarter.
