Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle In South LA

The crash occurred at the intersection of 58th Street and Compton Avenue at around 3:45 p.m., authorities said.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A person died after being struck by a vehicle today in South Los Angeles, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash at the intersection of 58th Street and Compton Avenue happened about 3:45 p.m., said CHP Officer Stephan Brandt.

Initially, it was reported as a hit-and-run, Brandt says that it is not clear if the driver returned to the scene.

The victim was transported by paramedics to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood and died just before 5 p.m., he said.

That person's name was withheld pending notification of next of kin. There's no word yet on the person's gender or age.
