Pedestrian Killed On 101 Freeway, Snarling Downtown Traffic

An investigation into the fatality shut down multiple lanes through the morning rush hour Wednesday.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A person was hit by at least one vehicle and killed Wednesday on the Hollywood (101) Freeway northwest of downtown Los Angeles, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash happened shortly before 5:30 a.m., shutting down multiple lanes of the freeway near the Harbor (110) Freeway, according to the CHP. As of 8:40 a.m., traffic in the area remained at a crawl, averaging 5mph, according to SigAlert.com

Information was not immediately available on the identity of the injured person, who died at the scene.

Two southbound freeway lanes were blocked while an investigation was conducted into the circumstances of the death.
