UPDATE: Rescue Effort Underway As Raging LA River Carries 2 Cars Off
Firefighters were unable to find occupants of the vehicles seen near the Harbor (110) Freeway.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The LAFD said that no victims have been found in the two vehicles submerged in the Los Angeles River near the 110 Freeway near Avenue 26 in the Cypress Park area.
Resources are being released from the scene of the incident.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Two vehicles submerged in the Los Angeles River near the Harbor (110) Freeway in the Cypress Park area prompted a frantic rescue effort for the drivers, but firefighters were unable to find anyone inside the vehicles or in the surrounding area Tuesday morning.

The search for victims remains ongoing.
At about 8 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to reports of vehicles in the rain-swollen river and initiated a full river rescue operation.
"Two vehicles (one white and one black) have been seen in the moving water and just passed the Washington St Bridge - firefighters are working to get a visual to determine if there are any occupants," LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
"Firefighters on the ground, and helicopters now on scene are scouring the river to determine if there are any victims in the water," she added.
As part of the rescue, effort crews were stationed along pre-determined sites on the LA River to rescue potential victims. The vehicle were seen near the 110 Freeway near Avenue 26.
