LOS ANGELES — A security guard was run over by a driver overnight in downtown Los Angeles, according to police.

The incident was reported shortly after midnight Wednesday in the 1000 block of Wilshire Boulevard, police said. The guard was attempting to stop the driver and was struck, according to police.

The driver fled in a white four-door BMW X5 with the license plate 9EAG098, police said. Authorities did not have any details regarding the medical status of the guard as of Wednesday afternoon.
