He's had his Metro pin longer than his Academy membership pin, and he proudly wore them both to the Academy Awards.

LOS ANGELES, CA — If you happened to ride the 240 bus or the B line Metro on Sunday, you might have noticed someone seemingly overdressed for public transit.
That would have been actor and Metro superfan Ed Begley Jr. on his way to the Oscars.

This year, his daughter recorded his journey and posted it to TikTok, much to the frustration of her mother Rachelle Carson, who is seen at the beginning of the video dressed for the red carpet in a black lace gown and heels.

"I'm driving, and you're what?" responds Carson.
"Taking the subway," says Begley .
"Oh God. Whatever," responds Carson with an Oscar-worthy eye-roll.
And with that, the famous father and daughter headed to the bus stop. For Begley Jr., it was something of a trip down memory lane.
"I've been riding the Metro since before it was the Metro," he said. "It was the RTD. I used to take the 93 downtown into Hollywood. At Hollywood and Highland, you could catch the 91W and get to Century City and places like that. I still ride it. I love it."
His suit, proudly adorned with his Academy pin and his Metro pin, stood out among the Sunday afternoon subway crowd.
"Thank God there are people like my dad who don't mind wearing running shoes on the red carpet," intones Begley.
