Shia LaBeouf Battery Charges Dropped In Sunset Blvd. Altercation
The "Honey Boy" actor completed an anger management and alcohol monitoring diversion program.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Battery and theft charges against actor Shia LaBeouf stemming from a Sunset Boulevard altercation last year were dismissed Friday after he completed a 12-month diversion program.
A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge Friday formally dismissed a criminal case in which the "Transformers" actor was charged with misdemeanor battery and petty theft. The incident occurred in June of 2020 when LaBeouf allegedly took a man's hat following a verbal altercation that turned physical.
The 35-year-old actor was ordered last year to stay 100 yards away from the alleged victim and the location of the alleged incident -- 4220 W. Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles -- and to not own or possess any weapons, according to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office.

As part of the diversion program, LaBeouf participated in at least one therapy session per week to address anger management. He also had to utilize an alcohol-monitoring device, be randomly tested for alcohol intake, continue to participate in a 12- step program and not to use any force or violence, according to the City Attorney's Office.
Attorneys in court Friday said he successfully completed the diversion program.

The actor has had multiple run-ins with the law. He was arrested in New York in 2017 being accused of shoving a man at an anti-Trump art installation, but the charges were dropped in that case for lack of evidence.
He's also been arrested on suspicion of public intoxication in Austin, Texas in 2015 and in Georgia in 2017.
In 2014, The Local Peasant restaurant in Sherman Oaks banned actor Shia LaBeouf from eating there again. That same year, he was arrested for suspicion of disorderly conduct, trespassing and harassment during a performance of Broadway's Cabaret in New York.
LaBeouf's film credits include "Disturbia," "Honey Boy," "The Peanut Butter Falcon" and "Pieces of a Woman."
