Warnings Issued At LA County Beaches Amid High Bacterial Levels

MALIBU, CA — Health warnings were issued at some Los Angeles County beaches after officials discovered unhealthy amounts of bacterial levels.

While some health warners for ocean water use were lifted at Topanga Canyon Beach and Leo Carillo State Beach, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health was still cautioning residents to avoid swimming, surfing or playing in ocean waters at the following beaches:

-Mother's Beach in Marina del Rey;
-Santa Monica Pier;
-Malibu Lagoon at Surfrider Beach;
-Pico-Kenter Storm Drain at Santa Monica Beach (Santa Monica Tower 20);
-Herondo Street Storm Drain at Hermosa Beach (Hermosa Tower TK).

Officials said the listed beaches had bacterial levels exceeding health standards when last tested, according to a statement released Friday.
