Watch: LA Sheriff's Deputies Resuscitate Baby Who Nearly Drowned
A 21-month-old girl is alive thanks to the efforts of deputies, who got her breathing again.

CARSON, CA — A 21-month-old girl is alive Thursday thanks to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies who resuscitated her after she nearly drowned at a home in Carson.
On Aug. 25, the toddler's family called 911 to report their had baby had drowned and was not breathing.
"Deputies Ramirez, Hylands, Carvahlo, and DeBoom were close by when the call came out. First to arrive on the scene, the deputies ran to the backyard area and found family members holding the little girl, attempting to administer CPR. The toddler was not breathing and was unresponsive. Deputies scooped the child into their arms and quickly assessed the infant’s medical needs," the sheriff's department wrote on Facebook. "Knowing that every second would count in saving her life, deputies immediately began life-saving measures.

"Thanks to their efforts, water was cleared from the child’s lungs, and she began to show signs of life. Shortly after, Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel arrived and began treating the toddler. Deputies used their patrol cars with lights and sirens to block traffic at intersections so they could expedite the child’s arrival at the hospital."
According to Deputy Alejandra Parra of the Sheriff's Information Bureau, the toddler is expected to make a full recovery.

To thank the deputies, the child's family has invited all emergency response personnel who assisted in the rescue to their home for a reunion.
